Training: Foundations of Effective Advocacy and Communications in Ethiopia

On March 9th and 10th, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) East Africa Regional Office held a two-day, in-person training session hosted by the CIPE Civic Engagement Hub.

The Civic Engagement Hub was joined by Lars Benson, CIPE’s Regional Director for Africa for the Foundations of Effective Advocacy session and Nardos Solomon, a communications consultant and expert in Ethiopia, for the Foundations of Effective Communications session. The training sessions were attended by representatives from civil society organizations, businesses, and social enterprise organizations.

Event Details:

On Day 1, the training session covered theĀ foundations of effective advocacy and introduced 35 training participants to the steps of an impactful advocacy process. Day 1 of this training session introduced participants to advocacy concepts, leaving them with the tools and knowledge to identify and work through advocacy issues most relevant to CSOs and those engaged in social enterprise work.

On Day 2, the training session provided key tools and skills that form the foundations of effective communications. The second day of this training session focused on the basics of impactful communications most relevant for the session’s 27 participants, made up of CSOs, social enterprises, and Ethiopian businesses.
